Age: mid to late 20's.
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight (questionable, may be bisexual, although he currently has a girlfriend)
Appearance: Raiden appears a bit lean, but with his training, he has developed a decently toned-body, covered in the black and silver of his form-fitting Skull Suit. He's hardly skinny and he likes to think he's in damn good shape. One of his most noticeable features is his rather effeminate looks - he has been mistaken for a woman more than once in the past and he hardly appreciates having to defend his masculinity all the time. This misunderstanding is probably due in part to his rather long white hair and his slender face. He knows he can't do anything about the face bit, but he's convinced that if he gets a haircut (always "some day" or "tomorrow"), he'll stop getting harrassed about his sexuality.

In regards to personal markings, he has a collection of what look to be bizarre tatoos. These appear to be thick gray bars lined with barcodes and tiny symbols situated on his thighs, sides and upper arms. In addition, Raiden has the number 57-86 imprinted just below on his chest. He can't explain how these markings got there, although he figures maybe they were part of his initiation into FOXHOUND. Despite his inability to recall their origin, he isn't bothered by them, and regards them as just there.

Personality: A bit on the naive side, Raiden plays things by the book - literally. If something deviates from his VR training, he stubbornly resists having to adapt unless absolutely forced to (or ordered to deviate). He has confidence in his VR training despite his lack of actual live combat experience. Although Solid Snake has garnered an extremely negative reputation two years ago, Raiden looks up to and openly admires the man, referring to Solid Snake as a "legend".

Raiden tends to approach mission scenarios as nothing more than simply a matter of duty. Instead of asking "why", he always asks "how" and "when", and his opinions seem to matter little - if at all - to him in the course of such scenarios. Raiden defers to a superior he's never actually seen face to face, and obeys orders without questioning them.

Raiden dislikes talking about his past. Generally, he is close-mouthed about most personal issues if asked: his regard for himself and his history is evident even in his bedroom - empty, utterly and blankly impersonal, with only a bed and dresser. Despite this disregard, he enjoys movies such as King Kong, preferring to immerse himself in superficial matters than discuss anything that might seem questionable to him.

Even so, he is generally naive, yet fiercely loyal to those he gets to know. He likes to work alongside people, overall.

Abilities/Weaponry: Currently armed with only a customized Beretta M9/92F, acting as a tranq gun. However, he has had very extensive VR training in the use of various weapons and several forms of hand-to-hand combat. He hasn't had much actual experience in the field yet - his first mission was to be his infilitration of the Big Shell in order to "neutralize" the terrorist group "Sons of Liberty" and save the President.

Raiden possesses intravenous nanonmachines throughout his body that act with his specialized "Skull Suit" to monitor his health. These nanomachines also act as a "Codec" receiver in his ear so that he can have private conversations with those who also have these nanomachines. He also has a "high concentration" of cerebral implants, although Raiden is completely unaware of the existence of these - the function of these implants is still unknown.

Weaknesses: To say Raiden is stubbornly inflexible is understating it - he has a hard time at first adjusting to any sudden changes or deviations in a plan, and he unrealistically expects to always possess full information on his targets. Due in a large part to his years of VR training, he tends to take things literally at face value, reacting as if betrayed if allies fail to include him in the loop. Raiden is rather trusting, even so, and is idealistic almost to a fault, making it rather easy to manipulate him if handled properly.

History: Raiden can only remember bits and pieces of his past - for him, much of it simply isn't there, as it was repressed (whether he repressed it or implants did so remains to be determined). He has completely forgotten his past as a child soldier in the Civil War, where he earned the nicknames "Jack the Ripper" and the "White Devil". He was recruited by a man who would later call himself "Solidus Snake" to fight in the children's fighting unit - like the other children in this unit, they were trained often on Hollywood movies and food mixed with gunpowder in order to keep them malleable. Raiden was one of the most brutal and efficient in killing until the end of the war, where Raiden was shipped off to an orphanage in the States and adopted. It's unknown if Solidus was the one who put the markings on him, or if a third party was responsible.

Up to this point, he has no knowledge of his past in the war - his seeming lack of a history hardly bothers him, although his girlfriend Rosemary would beg to differ.
